Hyundai's perseverance and hard work have finally paid off. After several decades on the North American market, the Korean manufacturer has built a solid reputation across multiple vehicle categories. The Elantra is certainly one of its most impressive models. In fact, things have evolved so quickly for the small Korean sedan that it has managed to surpass many of its rivals. Today, it competes on all levels with the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and Volkswagen Golf. Moreover, at the pace the Elantra is progressing, don't be surprised if it becomes the most popular car in its segment in the coming years.
Unlike most other manufacturers, Hyundai starts with a blank slate for each new generation. This formula works very well for the Korean automaker, and the Elantra is proof of that on four wheels. The current model has everything it takes to win over buyers. It boasts a bold design, a comfortable interior, and a plethora of technologies—not to mention its diverse mechanical options.
The 2025 Hyundai Elantra lineup consists of five different trims, starting with the Essential model at $22,599. In my opinion, this model is poorly named because it offers much more than just the essentials. The Korean sedan features an 8-inch touchscreen, heated front seats, and several driver assistance technologies. Next is the Preferred trim at $24,399, which includes a host of upgrades such as 16-inch alloy wheels, a heated steering wheel, and more. If you don't like making compromises, there's the Luxury trim at $28,599.
Performance starts to become a focal point with the N Line Ultimate trim, priced at $31,699—an excellent value for a car of this caliber. Finally, at the top of the range sits the N trim, with a starting price of $40,199. Of course, transportation and preparation fees must be added to all amounts.
It's no secret that compact sedans are far less popular than they used to be. Nevertheless, unlike several manufacturers, Hyundai has chosen not to withdraw from this segment. Instead, the Korean automaker has decided to fight by offering a thoroughly refined vehicle. This is why, in my opinion, the Hyundai Elantra offers one of the best value-for-money ratios on the market.

Hyundai took a bold approach to the Elantra's design, which is highly eclectic. The mix of rounded shapes and sharp lines suits the small Korean sedan well. The sportier versions feature a visually enhanced design with several small elements that add character without cluttering the Elantra's appearance.
Hyundai's interior design is successful from start to finish. In fact, I sincerely believe it has one of the most interesting designs in its category. Additionally, the seats are very comfortable, and the ergonomics have been well thought out. As for technology, the small Korean sedan lacks nothing. Its multimedia system is easy to use, and navigation is very smooth.
The 2025 Hyundai Elantra offers four powertrain options. It starts with the classic 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, producing 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. Next is the hybrid version, which uses a small 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor for a combined output of 139 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. What makes this setup particularly attractive is its low fuel consumption, averaging 4.8 L/100 km in the city and 4.5 L/100 km on the highway.
Meanwhile, the N Line Ultimate trim features a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine delivering 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. If that's not enough for you, there's the N trim, which comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine producing 276 horsepower and 289 lb-ft of torque. This version can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 5.3 seconds with the DCT transmission. However, purists will likely prefer the 6-speed manual transmission.
New vehicles are becoming increasingly expensive, which often leads us to believe that more affordable models are too low-end. However, that's not the case. The Hyundai Elantra is a surprising car that has everything it takes to please.
